Internet이란 무엇인가?

인터넷은 전 세계의 수많은 네트워크를 하나로 연결한 거대한 네트워크다. 컴퓨터 한 대만으로는 할 수 있는 일이 제한적이지만, 다른 컴퓨터와 연결되면 웹 서핑 등 무한한 가능성이 열린다.

The Internet is a vast network that connects many networks around the world.

If we only have one computer without internet connection, our capabilities are very limited. But if the computer is connected to another computer, many possibilities open up. Everything like web surfing becomes possible because computers can exchange data with each other.

LAN이란?

LAN(근거리 통신망)은 집, 사무실, 학교처럼 좁은 범위 내의 장치들을 연결하는 소규모 네트워크다.

LAN is a Local area network. When classified by scale, it refers to small-scale networks such as homes, offices, and schools.

WAN이란?

WAN(광역 통신망)은 국가 간이나 대륙 간처럼 넓은 지역을 연결하는 대규모 네트워크다.

WAN is a wide area network. It refers to large-scale networks such as connections between countries or continents.

LAN과 WAN의 차이는?

LAN과 WAN은 범위, 속도, 보안 세 가지에서 차이가 난다. LAN은 좁은 범위라 기본적으로 더 빠르고 안전하며, WAN은 넓은 범위를 커버하지만 상대적으로 느리고 보안 위험이 크다.

There are three differences: space, speed, safety. The LAN is a local area and the WAN is a wide area. LAN is faster than WAN by default. LAN is safer than WAN basically.
